Sociology or social studies, you might have studied previously too in school or High school. No matter if you have studied it whether in school or high school , you are again studying the similar subject again in BCA first semester. However the course content is not same what you might have studied in school or High School.

About Course:

As the name suggests of the course "Society and Technology" it mostly focuses the relationship of social aspect with technological aspects. This course id of 3 credit hours with 3 lecture hours and 0 tutorial , 0 lab hours. This course covers several topics of socilogy and impact of technology on society that includes basic concepts of sociology, organizing social life, social system and social stratification of Nepalese society, society and technology and research in social sciences which are essential to make computer professionals more responsible towards their society and social norms and values.

Teaching Method:

The general teaching methods includes class lectures, group works and discussions, case studies, guest lectures, research work, project works, assignments and examinations (written and verbal) depending upon the nature of topics. The teaching faculty will determine the choice of teaching method as per the need of topics

Examination Model:

If you don't know the question model of Society and Technology then let me tell you. The examination is of 60 marks in total out of which one paper is for multiple choice question which is grouped A and contains 10 questions of 1 marks each. This paper is taken back by the guards within 10 to 15 minutes the second paper is provided which contains Group B and group C. Questions of these groups of the examination of the year 2018 are listed below:

Group B Attempt any SIX questions. [6X5 = 30]

11. How sociology is a general science? Discuss with examples.

12. "Family is a primary social institution". Discuss with suitable examples.

13. Define socialization and describe its stages and agents.

14. What is Technological society? Describe its features in third world society.

15. What are the key research methods in social science?

16. What is kinship? Discuss it's types.

17. What are the factors of social and cultural changes? Discuss only three factors.

Group C Attempt any TWO questions. [2X10 = 20]

18. What is national integration? Discuss its major dimensions.

19. Discuss the accountability of computer professionals towards society with examples.

20. What are the basic steps of proposal writing in social research? Describe in brief.

Conclusion:

As you can see the questions are asked in group B are 7 in numbers out of which only six needs to be answered. Each correct answer can give 5 marks that in total becomes 30 marks. The group C contains 3 questions of 10 marks each, out of which only two needs to be answered. If you answer them correctly and fully you can get 20 marks in total from group C only.
